Hunter x Hunter 1999 vs 2011

Hey there, so today I decided to make a comparison between Hunter x Hunter 1999 version and the 2011 version. I´ll compare the first episode of both version, and see the differences between them.

So I started watching the first episode of the 1999 version, and noticed varios things that were different. 

The first thing that chocked me was to know that Mito-san worked in a bar.... this never appears in the 2011 version.

Then we start the episode with Kito, thing that it's weird because in the 2011 version we don't met him until episode 76.

He arrives to Wale Island looking for Ging, he has to find him and give back his hunter license.

But instead of Ging, he finds a little boy in problems with a big animal mother that wants to protect its child.

In order to save Gon, Kite has to kill the animal leaving the baby animal without a mother.

Kite gets mad at Gon because he is in the middle of the forest in the animals breeding season, and because of that he had to kill unnecessarily an animal.

Gon gets back at his house with a lot of bruises and Mito-san (his aunt that is taking care of him) gets mad at him.

In the next day, Gon goes to the forest and make a tomb for the animal.

And tries to take care of the little cub.

Kite helps him to bury the animals body.

And tell him who he is and what is he looking in Whale Island

He tells Gon that he's looking for another Hunter who is his teacher.

As a final test, Kito had to find him.

Kito asks Gon if he knows anything about his father.

And learn that his teacher is Gon father, Ging Freecs.

Kito tells Gon that Ging Freecs is his teacher and one of the best Hunter in the world. Gon was really surprised because he thought his father had died in a car accident.

Kito tells Gon that he has to be 12 to take the Hunter exam, and gives him his father Hunter license.

Kito leaves the island, knowing that in the future Gon will go to find Ging.

So, this is something that it's really different in the 2011 version. We don't know that Gon met Kito as a child until the episode 76 of the 2011 version. Also we get to know that Gon wants to become a hunter because Kito told him that his father was one of the best Hunters of the world. He also learn that Gon mother, who was actually Mito-san sister, died in a car accident, and that Ging didn't left Gon behind, but that Mito-san took Gon away from Ging in the court because she thought that Ging wasn't a good parent. In the other version this changes and Ging actually left Gon as a child.

I really liked this episode because I got to know a lot of things about the history, like that the rod Gon utilizes was actually from Ging, and Mito-san gives it to him as a gift. Finally, there is a last thing that is different from the 2011 version, and that is that Gon doesn't take a boat to the examination place, but goes in a little boat by himself.

Test x of x Tests

I decided to make this post in english, because I know not many people know spanish. Today I´ll make a summary of the second episode of the remake of the anime Hunter x Hunter. 

In the last episode Gon, Kurapika and Leorio approved the captain test and where in their way to the closest port to the examination site.

This episode name is:

They finally arrived to Dolle Harbor.

The captain told Gon a shortcut to the examination site.

He told Gon to go to the big tree in the highest point of the mountain.

But someone overheard the conversation of Gon and the captain, and started following Gon.

Gon told Kurapika and Leoria that the captain told him to go to the tree instead of going directly to the city where it was supposed to be held the exam.

They´re supposed to go to Zaban city, but Gon decided to trust in the captain and go first to the tree.

He went in the other direction towards the tree.

Kurapika decided to follow Gon because he's interested on Gon´s perception. While Leorio decided to take the bus to Zaban city.

He overheard a conversation in which they said that none of the buses where able to arrive to Zaban city. Finally Leorio decided to go with Gon and Kurapika.

They started climbing towards the tree, but found a city in their way.

The city seemed deserted at a first look.

 But a oba-chan (old lady) appeared out of nowhere.

She told them that they needed to answer a question in order to pass through the city.

Also, she told them that if they answer wrong they had to give up this year hunter´s exam.

They´re surprised by this old lady.

The guy that had been following them, appeared and decided to answer first. He had to choose between his mother or his lover.

And decide which one to save.

He answered that he would save his mother, because you can´t replace your mother.

After the guys answer, the lady let him pass.

Leorio got really mad with the old lady´s question, because he didn´t think that it was right to choose between two persons life.

Then she asked Leorio, Kurapika and Gon which would they choose to save, their son or daughter.

Leorio got really mad with the old lady´s question.

He was so mad with the oba-chan that decided to hit her, but Kurapika stopped him telling him that he´s about to give away their correct answer.

Kurapika told him that the correct answer was silence, because you can´t choose between the life of two people you love.

Then revealed that the other answer the first guy gave wasn't correct, and that they only let him continue through the path, though that path wasn't the correct way to get to the tree.

The oba-chan let them go through the correct path and Leorio relaxed knowing the truth about the lady´s test.

But Gon kept trying to find an answer to that question, because they might sometime face a kind of problem where there may not be a way out.

The real purpose of the test was to make them think about a situation of that kind, where they would have to make a decision in a hurry where there was no right solution.

They finally were back in track in order to reach the tree at the top of the mountain.

While they're hiking they found many weird signs: beware of magical beasts.

Soon after they found the cabin where the couple was supposed to be.

But no one answered the door.

The door was opened, so they just entered

They found a shapeshifting creature attacking the navigators who lived there.

The creature took the spouse and escaped through the window.

Leorio helped the man who was injured.

While Kurapika and Gon went to save the woman from the shapeshifter creature.

Gon easily followed the creature through the trees.

And hit the creature to save the woman.

The woman fell from the monsters hands.

And Kurapika was able to catch her.

Gon when behind the monster that was escaping.

Kurapika then realized something was off with that woman when he saw her tattoos.

Leorio appeared behind Kurapika telling him that the man back there was fine already. When hit by Kurapika, Leorio started changing into the shapeshifting creature.

Gon kept following the creature, and jumped into a rift.

There he encountered the creature.

But Gon realized something.

The creature who he was chasing and the creature that was attacking him now where completely different.

The creature started laughing at Gon, because he has the first one in differentiate them.

Finally they got to understand the mystery of the navigators.

They were actually a family, the two biggest creatures where the parents, while the two other ones where their son and daughter who pretended to be a human couple in order to test the people who wanted to become a hunter.

They told Kurapika he passed their test because he was able to tell that the woman wasn't the spouse because of her tattoos.

Leorio also passed because he was able to treat the man wounds better than anyone.

Then they told Gon he also passed because he was able to tell that there where two different shapeshifting creatures, and was able to differentiate them.

Finally, the navigators family took them to the examination site.

And this is where the second episode ends...
